A ceremony of summing-up the 6th all-Russian competition “Russian Effective Socially-Oriented Company,” which has been held since 2000 by Russian Government’s ordinance, and awarding the winners and laureates took place in Kremlin on 14 February.
In 2006 the competition included six categories: Implementation of Social Programs, Remuneration of Labor and Social Transfers, Qualifications of Personnel, Personnel Training and Retraining System, Labor Safety and Conditions, Resource Saving and Ecology, Small Socially Active Enterprise.
Around 1,000 applications from organizations and enterprises across 78 regions of the country were received by the competition’s commission.
OKB Sukhoi won first place in the Implementation of Social Programs category.
The awards ceremony for the companies becoming winners this year took place at the in the presence of over 1,500 executives of enterprises and organizations, heads of ’s subject administrations, municipal authorities, representatives of scientific and public organizations.
Vice Premier Alexander Zhukov, who attended the ceremony, gave the First Class Diploma of Honor to Mikhail Pogosyan, director general of the Sukhoi Holding, which includes OKB Sukhoi.
Sukhoi Holding is widely known in the aircraft world as a developer of combat, sport and civil aircraft. Last year the company carried out a great deal of R&D efforts on upgrading in-service aircraft, export contracts and advanced projects. Having timely completed a development project and having met our commitments under a three-year contract with the Russian Defense Ministry on delivery of upgraded Su-27 aircraft, we confirmed our reputation as a responsible partner once again. The company has been steadily building up its annual R&D activities and successively pursuing a policy of concentrating all kinds of resources on priority areas able to yield tangible financial benefits.
The quality of design work has markedly improved. Concurrent engineering and in-design cost control approaches are being actively introduced into practice of Sukhoi Holding’s batch production plants. In terms of using up-to-date IT equipment and design methods, the company holds rightfully the lead among similar domestic aircraft companies.
Personnel development issues are also under the continuous supervision of Sukhoi Holding’s management. The company widely employs moral and material incentive methods and provides social safety of its personnel through creating and maintaining necessary labor and rest conditions in accordance with provisions of a collective agreement.
The company has managed to retain all its social facilities which it owned in the early 1990s: kindergartens, dining places, children’s recreation camps, recreation centers in Crimea on the Black Sea and on, a hotel in Akhtubinsk.
Generally, in 2005 OKB Sukhoi alone spent more than 125 millions rubles out of profits to maintain social facilities and implement social programs, counting social transfers.
